The wonderful Terrace Grill located in the beautiful Dewa Phuket Resort on Nai Yang Beach, offers up an extensive menu of Thai classics, European favorites and Mediterranean fare, all made with the skilled hands of Pongsakorn “Toh” Laopaledee. Overlooking the resort pool, the Terrace Grill offers outdoor and air-conditioned seating for in-house and outside guests for up to about 100. Staff are pleasant and attentive as you peruse through the menu and are more than happy to answer any questions or offer suggestions.

A charming little bar in front offers up refreshing cocktails, beer and wine for both dining and pool lounging, giving the Terrace Grill one of the most laidback fine-dining experiences at a restaurant in Phuket! We were offered an abundant amount of dishes to try, from fresh tuna tartar to a enormous black burger to a delectable chocolate tart. Each dish was wonderful and beautifully plated, with edible decorations and excellent flavor combinations. A few dishes, however, stood out – the AUS marble Wagyu beef tenderloin with rosemary potatoes, caramelized carrots, rocket lettuce salad, served with Port wine sauce and roasted garlic; the tonno garlic e pomodoro (Tuna steak with pomodoro-garlic sauce served on gnocchi); and the Apple pie tart served with vanilla ice cream and berry sauce.

To start, the Wagyu beef was cooked to perfection – still juicy, tender and practically melts in your mouth. The potatoes were, as always, a wonderful side with the rosemary giving subtle hints to each ingredient. To tie it together, the Port wine sauce was divine – not too strong, not too sweet and melded all of the textures and flavors to one.

The tuna steak was incredible, and a very large portion! Flakey with a lot of heft, the tuna was still very tender and flavorful. The pomodoro-garlic sauce was a surprisingly wonderful combination despite my initial hesitations. Very light and very balanced, the sauce brought together the tuna and the perfectly cooked gnocchi, for a delicious dish full of texture and flavor combinations.

However, the apple pie tart was by far the star of the show! A flakey, buttery crust, encapsulated tender apples with still a bit of bite in them, and the wonderful combination of sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Served with a scoop of high quality vanilla ice cream and a slightly tart berry sauce, this dessert ranked very high on our sweets list for desserts on the island!

With amazing cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere, within a stunning resort, it is no wonder that Terrace Grill is where to eat in Nai Yang! The skill and dedication of Chef Toh and his staff make this a dining experience to remember and one that will have you coming back for more!
