Café Station Phuket – Pulling Out All The Right Stops
Just off the Heroines’ Monument in Thalang, you will find Café Station – a cute little café and restaurant serving up delicious cakes, coffees and a large variety of Thai and Western dishes. The atmosphere is laid back and hip with cowhide covered barstools, clean lines and tons of natural light from the wall of windows.
Once inside, it’s hard to notice that the cafe is located in such a busy area, with a semi-enclosed patio, living wall and tons of beautiful green plants strategically placed throughout the eatery. And if you are lucky enough, you may just meet the resident fur ball of love, a boxer named Maximus. The menu is adorably designed to look like a newspaper and sectioned off into different ‘stations’, which include a sandwich station, salad and noodle station, pizza station, breakfast station and of course, a drink station.
If you are wondering why there is no dessert station, that is because the decadent treats are made and swapped out daily, so you never know what you are going to get. But it is safe to say that there are star attractions and no matter what you choose, it will be just what you want! A helpful hint, though: if you see the avocado cheesecake, order it! It is silky smooth with a chocolate crust and served with a perfectly tart raspberry puree.
The drinks on the other hand, are next level. Offering two and half pages of choices, the drink station offers everything from fresh juice, smoothies, sodas, coffee and even cocktails! If you are feeling a little overwhelmed, go with the butterfly pea lemonade. You can’t go wrong! It is both beautiful to look at with it vibrant purple glow and deliciously refreshing! As far as dining goes, however, it really depends on what you are in the mood for.
If it is spice you are after, try the Laab Moo Tod – a wonderful mixture of Thai spices and minced pork, deep fried and served with veggies and a spicy dipping sauce. You may also want to try the Khao Clook Gabpi – rice mixed with shrimp paste served with a bunch of fixings, including chopped Thai chilies. Sandwich-wise, you do not want to miss out on the Crab Roll stuffed with tons of delicious crab mixed in a lovely homemade sauce. Suffice it to say; though this sandwich is more than enough for one, you will be disappointed when it’s finished! The pizza is simple and delicious and the best part is, it has plenty of cheese! The sauce is mild and a bit on the sweet side and the homemade crust is nothing to scoff at. It is the perfect size for sharing, if you are into that sort of thing. Though sharing pizza is not everyone’s jam.
All in all, Café Station is a wonderful dining experience in Thalang, whether you want breakfast, lunch, dinner or a little afternoon coffee break! Make sure to check out their catering and take out options too. Café station is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8am-10pm and Sunday from 8am-6pm.
