If you’ve been on the island for a while, or even if you are just visiting, you already know that the amount of food choices in Patong can be quite overwhelming. Everything from fresh seafood to authentic Indian cuisine to some of the island’s best Italian fare, Patong has it all, and has plenty of it. However, there is one venue that stands out among the rest, with dim, pub-style lighting, large brick arches and a corner completely dedicated to the game of darts.

Harry’s Steakhouse & Pub, established in 2001, is located just off the beach road in the popular tourist town, and is serving up delicious burgers, sandwiches and steaks to locals, tourists and expats alike. With huge portions at low prices, Harry’s menu also includes 69 Thai dishes starting at 99 baht and during high season, hosts an all you can eat Taco Buffet for only 349 baht. Unfortunately, that was not happening when we went, but does give us something to look forward to!

When we arrived, it was all about the beef. And boy were we lucky that we brought our appetites! Skipping the starters, we jumped right into our six mains (yes, six!). First up was a wonderful Chateaubriand Provencal. With a beautiful cut of beef tenderloin served with homemade garlic butter, red wine sauce and amazingly cheesy potato gratin, this dish is a winner. Every piece of the dish paired one another perfectly and gave you that full feeling that you get after a huge family meal. It was great!

But there was no time to rest. Next up was a new item not even on the menu yet – I guess you could say we were the guinea pigs. The steak sandwich, made with high-quality pieces of beef, was all you could ever hope for in one lunch break. It included homemade horseradish sauce and was served with a nice portion of well-seasoned French fries. Spicy, salty and served on two thick pieces of fluffy white bread, this sandwich packed in an awful lot of steak into one lunch, and it was worth it.

To give us a bit of a break from the beef, we were served an enormous planked salmon with mashed potatoes and homemade hollandaise sauce. If one were to order this as their meal, there is no doubt that they would leave happy. Incredibly fresh, tender and flaky, we doused this lovely fish with a few squeezes of lemon and never looked back – which was a good thing, because coming at us was a huge rack of Jack Daniel’s glazed baby back ribs! Char grilled to perfection and served with extra sauce, corn on the cob and homemade coleslaw, these babies were every rib fanatic’s dream. Tender, fall-off-the bone strips of pure heaven.

But alas, we were sent back down to earth, for we still had two dishes to try and our bellies were getting full. However, when the whisky flamed pepper steak and bacon cheeseburger were placed in front of us, it was as if we had not eaten anything at all. The burger was gigantic, juicy and adorned with melted cheese and crisp bacon – everything you could want in a cheeseburger!

And the pepper steak… wow!

Encrusted with black peppercorns and served with a pepper sauce, this tender cut of beef was popping with flavor, spice and everything nice and was the perfect way to end our food journey at Harry’s!

This review was fun and pushed our stomachs to the limit, but we would do it again in a heartbeat! So, if it is excellent pub food with huge portions, amazing quality and good prices, or if you just need to pin down where to eat in Patong, Harry’s Steakhouse & Pub won’t let you down and will have you feeling happy, full and wanting more!
