We were delighted to be served two enormous platters and the fresh sea bass and homemade shrimp cakes, which the chef prepared on the terrace for us right as the sun set. The Seafood Platter was enough for two as a main, or four as a starter, and boasted an incredible amount of fresh squid and prawn skewers, fish, mussels and amazing fish n’ chips made with Andaman sea bass in a crispy beer batter. It was an amazing display of what we are so lucky to have the provided by the Andaman daily.
The best part of the platter was definitely the fish n’ chips. The homemade tartar sauce was amazing and actually went well with everything served on the platter. The fish was light and flakey, while the batter offered a wonderful saltiness and was a great way to try the dish if you were debating to get the full portion.
The Asian Platter was equally large and amazing. Among the display were delectable prawn dumplings; a spicy, yet sweet, pomelo salad made with fresh pomelo, shallots, kaffir lime leaf and prawn in traditional Thai tamarind dressing; fresh spring rolls with various dipping sauces; and amazing chicken satay. This platter is a great way to sample an array of traditional Thai dishes and also a great way to fall in love with chicken satay! The perfect combination of coconut and curry, the satay is served with an amazing Thai peanut sauce and is absolutely one of the most memorable satays we have tried yet!
However, the most notable dishes of the evening were the homemade shrimp cakes and the fresh sea bass. The shrimp cakes were perfectly cooked, light and crispy. A great starter served on a bed of fried kaffir lime leaf with sweet plum sauce and pickled vegetables, this dish should definitely go on everyone’s list. But the absolute must-try is the sea bass – Andaman sea bass fillet, pan fried and served with homemade Parmesan mashed potato and mango salsa. Incredibly flakey, fresh and light, the fish itself is full of flavor, but is complemented perfectly with the sweet, fresh mango and salty Parmesan potatoes.
This dish is the perfect size and is quite filling, but not too heavy, saving you room for any number of the menu’s lovely desserts, such as tiramisu, mango sticky rice, or molten chocolate cake. And as if the food and spectacular views weren’t enough to make you want to visit, the menu offers an organic rice option free of charge for your Thai, black and jasmine rice!
So, if you are looking for where to eat in Phuket, or just need a new, exciting place to try near the beach, this beautiful rooftop eatery in the nook of Kamala is the place for you!
